Hello World!

Well, where do I begin? As a new blogger I am not sure, but I guess I will start with an introduction. So here it goes. Hi, my name is Elyse and I am a 26-year-old woman living in a small rural town in Northwest Iowa. I moved here 4 years ago from Fort Collins, Colorado. The culture shock of moving to a town of 6,000 from one of around 150,000 was immense. Now, I must say I have mostly grown used to it although I still have those surreal moments of  “wow, I really am living here.” I truly am a city girl at heart, and hope to move back to Fort Collins sometime soon, as I know I don’t want to live here forever. Fort Collins will always be my true home.

Last July I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Human Services. My real passion is libraries though. I have worked in different ones for 6 years collectively, and currently have worked at my town’s library for 3 years. I love books, and the atmosphere of libraries. I hope to advance in positions at some point, but just read on Forbes website that a masters degree in Library Science is the #1 worst degree to get at the moment. But most high paying, full time library jobs require that.  I have begun to be plagued with hand problems due to repetitive motion issues, so I know I can’t continue to work in circulation forever. So for now I am pondering what to do. I have a great paying library job now, and will be living here until at least next March due to my apartment lease, so I have a little time to decide what move to make next.

For now I am just living life day-by-day in my small Iowa home, and making the best of it. While living here it has been four years of many changes, heartache, and growth, which I will delve deeper into in further posts. For now that is the basics about me. In this blog my goal is to write about my life in a town which often feels foreign to me, my trials and successes, and just where life takes me in general. I promise that my life is far from boring, and that this will not be a run of the mill blog about mundane days, and no excitement. Believe me between where I live, and my family, there are many intriguing stories to tell. I hope you enjoy!
